Bodegas Moraza
Janire Moraza and Patricio Moraza
For six generations, we have been cultivating our vines and making wine in the heart of the Golden Mile in Rioja Alta, more specifically in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and Àbalos. The considerable experience thus gained has taught us a profound respect for nature. All our vineyards are organically grown; we supervise our vines, exercising a minimum of control following biodynamic principles. We produce wines exclusively with the grapes from our own vines, which explains our limited.
We understand that our wine is a result of the complexity of our land and should express the terroir it comes from. We work only with native varietals from Rioja, which are delicate and very sensitive to changes in climate, soil and altitude. Each varietal expresses its full potential in each parcel, so the resulting wines have a perfect balance of fruit and freshness, and are free to express their own caracteristics depending on the vineyard, altitude, orientation of the sun, climate and surrounding nature.
We own 23 hectares of vineyards. Eleven parcels are located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra and two parcels are in Abalos, and all are certified organic and in the process of becoming fully Demeter certified.
The vineyards are between 400 and 650 meters above sea level. They range in size between 2,000 square meters and 5 hectares. We have only native varietals of the Rioja Alta, with the majority being Tempranillo, followed by Garnacha, Viura, Graciano, Garnacha Blanca, etc.
