Description:

Located in Roquefort sur Loire, the estate lies by the Loire river in the Anjou region in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon appellation. Domaine du Clos de l’ Elu is an old property, taken over by Thomas Carsin and Gregoire du Bouexic in 2008. Fully organic since 2010, the estate follows the biodynamic philosophy as well. The estate is 25 hectares large.

They grow eight different varieties on their varied terroir: Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Gamay, and the very regionally specific Grolleau.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

Grape: 50% Grolleau Noir 50% Gamay

Harvest: By hand.

Winemaking: Carbon maceration, foot treaded, and pressed. After pressing the wines are aged 6 months in vats, each grape variety separately, and then blended in the spring.
